About

Ricky Mokel’s twisted innocence and unique brand of laugh-out-loud, family-friendly humor could combine to be the most refreshing and hilarious performance you’ve ever seen. As he

often reminds audiences, “You don’t know!” When you leave Ricky’s show, not only will you have his “You don’t know!” catch-phrase stuck in your brain, you’ll feel tired from laughing, amazed that someone could be that funny without being blue. And you’ll have to agree with Ricky when he boasts, “I think about stuff.” Ricky Mokel is the alter-ego of Grant Turner, a native of Decatur, Ga. He began doing stand- up comedy fulltime when he was fired from his position as an account executive in an Atlanta advertising agency. Goodbye 9-to-5. Hello coast-to-coast comedy career. In 1984 Grant won the Atlanta Punchline’s Great Southeastern Laugh-Off competition. The next year he appeared on NBC’s Star Search and headlined all over the country for the next 16 years. From his showcase appearance at the Aspen Comedy Arts Festival in 1996, Grant signed a two-year TV development deal with Walt Disney Studios. And from 2000 to 2020, Ricky Mokel was the featured comedian at the Alabama Theatre in N Myrtle Beach, SC. He quickly became the star of One the Show, and performed his own 90-minute one-man show, The Ricky Mokel Show, twice a year there. You’ve got to see why he sold out that 2,000 seat venue many times! Grant Turner lives in Myrtle Beach, SC with his wife, Kay. They have five children and four grandchildren.
